Climate Adaption Plan

The Climate Action Preparedness and Adaptation Plan helps communities and organizations to protect ecosystems, lower long-term costs and keep people and communities safe.

We can’t undo the past and avoid the effects of climate change, but we can be better prepared to adapt and reduce the impacts. Preparing now will help protect us from future shocks and strengthen the resilience of our communities, ecosystems and economy.

Climate Mitigation Plan

The Climate Action Transformation Plan - Mitigation focuses on climate change mitigation priorities that will accelerate climate action to achieve significant greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.

The plan focuses on buildings, transportation, and waste, and articulates the key strategies the organization will need to implement to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions to meet its targets.

Electrification of Transportation Plan

For the transportation sector, electrification means replacing fossil fuels with electricity as the means of powering light-duty vehicles, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, and buses. The primary goal is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and, ultimately, contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change on the planet.

We believe that renewable energy growth and electrification of transportation (EoT) are complementary, greater clean energy impacts and customer value can be created by achieving both in tandem.

Building Electrification Plan

Decarbonization is important because building operations are responsible for 31% of energy-related CO2 emissions in the U.S., and the majority of resort buildings rely on natural gas as their primary heating fuel.

Building electrification—also known as beneficial electrification or building decarbonization—describes the shift to using electricity rather than burning fossil fuels like oil, gas and coal for heating and cooking. The goal is all-electric buildings powered by solar, wind and other sources of zero-carbon electricity.

Electrification holds great potential to reduce final energy demand because the efficiency of electric technologies is generally much higher than fossil fuel-based alternativeswith similar energy services.
